Our Story

Tsuyosa Martial Arts began with humble beginnings and a simple mission: to create a dojo where every student feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow. From the start, the school set itself apart with a teaching style that blends traditional martial arts values with a warm, modern, and highly personalized approach, a style shaped in large part by Sensei Meghan, whose degree in education and decades of experience working with children have made her a beloved figure in daycares and youth programs across the West Island.

Although she has never carried the journey alone, Sensei Meghan’s vision remains at the heart of Tsuyosa Martial Arts. Her unique way of connecting with students, her emphasis on positive reinforcement, and her deep understanding of child development continue to influence every class, program, and instructor who steps onto the mats.

As the dojo has grown year after year, it has stayed true to its roots: community first, tradition with a modern twist, and a commitment to creating a safe, encouraging environment where students of all ages can build confidence, discipline, and strength. Even as enrollment expands and new programs flourish, Tsuyosa Martial Arts proudly retains the welcoming, small‑dojo feel that has defined it from the beginning.

Our journey has been anything but ordinary. Through every step, we've focused on staying true to our vision.

From the earliest days of Tsuyosa Martial Arts, Sensei Steve has stood beside Sensei Meghan as a constant source of support, dedication, and belief in the vision that shaped the dojo. While the teaching style and educational approach were born from Sensei Meghan’s unique background and passion, Sensei Steve played a crucial role in helping to bring that vision to life, helping build the programs, the culture, and the community that define the dojo today.

Known for his calm leadership, steady presence, and unwavering commitment to students, Sensei Steve has helped guide Tsuyosa Martial Arts through every stage of its growth. As the dojo expanded year after year, he ensured that the heart of the school never changed: a welcoming environment, a strong sense of community, and a modern, student‑centered approach to traditional martial arts.

Together, Sensei Meghan and Sensei Steve have created a space where students feel safe, supported, and inspired… a dojo that continues to grow while proudly maintaining the warmth and personal connection of a small, close‑knit community.
